The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) are the government department that regulate the Real Estate Industry in Queensland. They administer the Property Agents and Motor Dealers Act (2000), PAMD Regulations and the Fair Trading Act (1989). The OFT also issue real estate licensing and salespersons certificates of registration in Qld.
Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) www.rta.qld.gov.au
The Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) are the Qld government department that regulate general residential tenancies between lessor’s and tenants. They administer the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act (2008) and Regulations.
Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) www.qcat.qld.gov.au
QCAT replaced the previous Small Claims Tribunal in Qld.
Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) www.reiq.com.au
The REIQ is a private membership organisation who offer a range of valuable services for its members. It is estimated that around 85% of Qld agents are members.
Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) www.reia.com.au
The Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) is the national association for Australia’s real estate profession. REIA is a politically non-aligned organisation that provides research and well-informed advice to the Federal Government, Opposition, members of the real estate profession, media and the public on a range of issues affecting the property market.

The Department of Employment and Industrial Relations is the government body that administer electrical safety switch law in Qld.
Smoke Alarm Laws (QLD Fire and Rescue)
The Department of Emergency Services (Fire and Rescue) regulate smoke alarm law and building fire safety laws in Qld.
Pool Fencing Laws (Queensland)
The Department of Infrastructure and Planning regulate pool fencing laws in Qld.
Sustainability Declaration and Pool Fencing (DIP)
The Department of Infrastructure and Planning implemented the mandatory sustainability declaration in QLD and also are the department which administers pool fencing laws.
